Good Eyecare Begins With A Yearly Exam!
Although many do not realize it, the best way to protect your vision is with a yearly eye checkup. Even a basic eye exam can instantly detect such health-threatening conditions as tumors, vascular irregularities, and diabetes-related injury to the retina. At Ozarks Family Vision Centre, that basic checkup is brief and painless.
Comprehensive Eye and Vision Examination
Periodic eye and vision examinations are an important part os preventative health care. Early diagnosis and treatment of eye and vision problems are important to maintain good vision and eye health. A comprehensive adult eye and vision examination at Ozarks Family Vision Centre will include tests which are specific to the individual needs of each patient. Those tests may include: patient history, visual acuity, refraction, binocular vision testing, eye health evaluation, and supplemental testing when more indepth assessment is indicated.
Contact Lens Examination
Regular examination of eye health and contact lens fit and function are essential for long term successful wear of contact lenses. In addition to vision examination and eye health assessment, thorough contact lens examination includes assessment of the curvature of the cornea, production and quality of the tear production, health of the lids and conjunctiva, and the fitting of the most appropriate contact lens to meet individual patient needs and desire. Ozarks Family Vision Centre offers specialty contact lens services for patients difficult prescriptions and ocular disease such as dry eyes, keratoconus and post refractive surgery complications.
Diabetic Eye Examination
Any patient with diabetes should have a comprehensive dilated eye examination annually. Diabetes and its complications can greatly affect many parts of the eye. A common complication of diabetes is diabetic retinopathy in which the delicate blood vessels inside the eye begin to leak. If undetected and untreated diabetic retinopathy can lead to blindness. Other eye conditions associated with diabetes are fluctiations in vision, double vision, cataracts and glaucoma. To properly exam the eyes in patients with diabetes the doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre will commonly use an eye drop to dilate the pupils in order ti better look in to the interior of the eyes.

The doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre are all trained and licensed to manage a wide variety of ocular injury and acute eye disease such as eye and eyelid infections, foreign body, and ocular abrasion diagnosis and treatment and chronic eye diseases such as dry eye syndrome.
Glaucoma Examination and Treatment
Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that cause progressive damage to the optic nerve resulting in loss of vision. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness in the US today. Most forms of glaucoma develop slowly and usually without symptoms. If glaucoma is detected and treated at an early stage it can usually be controlled with little or no further vision loss. The doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre use highly specialized instrumentation to diagnose and properly treat glaucoma.
Macular Degeneration Examination
Macular Degeneration is the leading cause of vision loss among people over the age of 60. There are two types of age related macular degeneration, wet and dry AMD. Symptoms of AMD are gradual loss of central vision, objects appear distorted in shape, loss of color vision or a dark or blank area in the center of the visual field. Early detection and ongoing monitoring and treatment of AMD are essential to minimize vision loss. The doctors at Ozarks Family Vision Centre utilize highly specialized imaging tests to detect, follow, and treat AMD.
